Plant Factory Energy Calculator
Do the math before the optimization. Two estimators turn your electricity bill from a feeling into a number — everything runs locally in your browser. No sign-up, no lead capture, nothing uploaded.
Two methods, cross-checked
Method one estimates the whole bill from annual yield; method two works out lighting from your fixture power. Run both and see where your farm sits in the range.
Method 1 · Annual electricity from annual yield
Best if you have a yield target and want a quick total. Enter your annual yield and local tariff.
Caliber note: the range comes from published research — the upper bound of ~17 kWh/kg is the industry status-quo level reported in a literature review (lettuce, artificial-light plant factories); the lower bound of ~4.76 kWh/kg is the optimized floor reported by one simulation study (20-ft container, lettuce). Actual consumption varies significantly with crop, climate, equipment and operating strategy. This estimate is not a promise of any kind.
Method 2 · Annual lighting electricity from fixture power
Lighting is usually one of the largest loads in a plant factory. This part is plain physics — no literature uncertainty.
Caliber note: annual lighting energy = area × power density × photoperiod × 365 ÷ 1000. Photoperiod varies by crop and growth stage; dynamic photoperiod strategies change the annual equivalent hours.
The calculator is a rough estimate. Email one month of energy logs plus a floor plan to yuankethomas@yunshi-tech.com and we’ll run a proper energy diagnosis for your project.
